The Senior Development Assistant (SDA) will provide administrative support to the Community Development Manager at the Miami campus. Job duties include: assisting with campaigns and outreaches in Miami; updating spreadsheets; entering data into the Mission’s database; sending thank-you cards to donors/supporters; and keeping up with all paperwork. The SDA also helps greet visitors, answers and makes phone calls to donors, and schedules appointments for the Community Development Manager. Must be able to sign the Mission’s Statement of Faith, as this is a Christian ministry.

Minimum Requirements: Requires a High School diploma or GED. Must have a minimum of two (2) years office experience, with proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook. Prefer experience in a non-profit organization or general office setting. Requires excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact with staff, vendors, and supporters in a professional and courteous manner. Must be very organized and able to prioritize tasks. A high level of accuracy and confidentiality is required. Must be able to pass a Level II background screen and drug test.

Compensation: $12.00 - $18.00 per hour based on experience. Position is non-exempt.

The Truck Driver drives an assigned vehicle to pick up and deliver donations and/or purchased items such as furniture, clothes, etc. in Dade and Broward Counties. Must be able to lift and/or carry a minimum of 75 pounds. Maintains and keeps required supplies and safety equipment in truck. Conducts routine safety inspection of vehicles, and promptly reports all mechanical problems.

Minimum Requirements: Must have at least 1 year of verifiable driving experience, and a Florida Driver’s Class D License. Must have a safe driving record with no more than four (4) points max. Must be familiar with local streets and highways in Dade and Broward Counties. Must be able to pass a Level II background screen and drug test.

Compensation: $11.00 - $17.00 per hour based on experience. Position is non-exempt.

The Cook at Broward Outreach Center reports to the Food Services Supervisor, and will be responsible for preparing bulk meals for our residents. Must be knowledgeable in food preparation (large quantities), storage, handling, and serving techniques in an institutional type setting. Good communication and interpersonal skills required. Must be willing to work a flexible schedule as business needs dictate.

Minimum Requirements: Must have a High School diploma or GED and knowledge of basic mathematical calculations to calculate measurements for recipes. Must have a valid driver’s license with 4 points maximum. Must be able to pass a Level II background screen and drug test.

Compensation: $11.00 - $17.00 per hour based on experience. Position is non-exempt.

The Guest Services Assistant (GSA) monitors and oversees residential clients at the Hollywood Center. Duties include assisting with new resident orientation; providing general oversight of residents in the absence of management; ensuring that residents perform assigned chores; handling emergencies according to policies and procedures; providing operational support for events such as graduations and luncheons; and, coordinating transportation and/or laundry services for residents.

Minimum Requirements: High school graduate (or GED) with a valid driver’s license required. Must have one (1) year work experience in social services or security-related work. Available shift: 11PM to 7:30AM including weekends and holidays as needed. Must be able to pass a Level II background screen and drug test.

Compensation: $11.00 - $17.00 per hour based on experience. Position is non-exempt.

The GIK / Special Projects Assistant (GIK / SPA) reports to the Sr. Community Development Associate, and will help process and count Gift-in-Kind (GIK) and help with special projects as they arise. Duties include responsibility for sorting & counting GIK, and updating a spreadsheet with GIK information. The GIK / SPA will also assist with ongoing projects within the Community Development Department, in seeing them to successful completion.

Minimum Requirements: Requires a High School diploma or GED. Must be a self-motivated, highly organized team player, and be able to work in an environment where they are not afraid to get their “hands dirty” by helping to sort Gift-in-kind (GIK). Must be detail-oriented with the ability to perform basic mathematical calculations, and be able to understand and carry out oral and written directions in English. Requires a professional and courteous demeanor with the ability to interact with all levels of volunteers, donors, public, residents, and staff. Must be able to pass a Level II background screen and drug test.

Compensation: $9.00 - $13.00 per hour based on experience. Position is non-exempt.

The Intake Coordinator (IC) oversees the intake and orientation of homeless men into the program. Duties include screening clients for intake; performing intake assessment; conducting and building positive relations within the community; providing intake of homeless clients based on space availability; conducting aftercare; facilitating a motivational and welcoming environment; ensuring that the Intake/Screening Unit and Support Services meet contract requirements. Must be able to sign the Mission’s Statement of Faith, as this is a Christian ministry.

Minimum Requirements: Must have an AA degree or previous on-the-job training in Social Work or a related field. CAP training is a plus. The Intake Coordinator must have knowledge of alcoholism and chemical dependency and homelessness. Requires the ability to react quickly and calmly in an emergency and recognize symptoms of common mental and physical illnesses and make appropriate referrals for their treatment. Must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients and staff of diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds regardless of race, religion, age, sex, disability, political affiliation, and sexual orientation. Must be organized and computer literate. Requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Must be able to pass a Level II background screen and drug test.

Compensation: $14.00 - $19.00 per hour based on experience. Position is non-exempt.

The Maintenance Worker performs preventive or routine maintenance and building repairs following OSHA guidelines and building codes as assigned by supervisor. May lockout or tag out unsafe or broken equipment. Duties include performing minor repairs to building fixtures, minor plumbing repairs, cleaning electrical fixtures and replacing bulbs, and touch-up painting. Performs needed carpentry to buildings as directed. Receives work orders and prints or sketches for the job. Estimates material requirements and tools or equipment needed to perform job. Sets up and operates wood working tools to cut forms and finish material for the job. Erects or dismantles structures; repairs or refinishes walls or structures; installs wood or metal parts; installs glass or replace broken glass as required; erects or dismantles roofing or siding; prepares irregular scaffolding; and paints interior and exterior walls. Help keep tools and equipment oiled and maintained in good working order.

Minimum Requirements: High School diploma or GED preferred. Minimum three (3) years building maintenance or construction experience in plumbing or carpentry. Will consider candidate with five (5) years of experience in building maintenance management or construction, plumbing, A/C and/or carpentry work in lieu of education. Must be able to pass a Level II background screen and drug test.

Compensation: $11.00 - $17.00 per hour based on experience. Position is non-exempt.

The Teaching Assistant (TA) reports to the Education Supervisor, and assists the supervisor in administering the education program including tutoring, diagnostic testing, monitoring students’ activities, motivating students, and record keeping. Must be able to sign the Mission’s Statement of Faith, as this is a Christian ministry.

Minimum Requirements: Requires a High School diploma and a minimum of 1 year of tutoring experience. Some college coursework preferred. Must be proficient in the use of computers, and have the ability to read, write, and effectively communicate in English. Must be able to communicate effectively with compassion, and motivate residents to learn and improve their skills. Must be able to pass a Level II background screen and drug test.

Compensation: $11.00 - $17.00 per hour based on experience. Position is non-exempt.
